Sweet and simple family photos in the studio are perfect for this time of year. It’s cold out there and unfortunately Punxsutawney Phil says there will be six more weeks of winter this year.
But no worry, I have a warm cozy studio that is perfect for capturing memorable wall worthy images of your favorite people.
There are a couple things that make a great studio portrait session. First, I always suggest dressing the family in warm neutrals. Everyone in shades of creams and greys really gives a modern minimalistic sophisticated look to the images. This is also good because we are using a simple backdrop. Color and pattern and mix matched outfits come off as garish real quick. We want the people to be the focus so the clothes should fade away.
The other thing is simple to be as comfortable as possible. It’s a small space so plan on getting close up with your family with lots of snuggles and lap sitting. You should also be able to get down on the floor and back up again. Besides, when you feel comfortable that comes through and makes for sweeter and more emotional portraits.
I know that most people really like the outdoor photos, and I totally get it. They are pretty and fun. If don’t want to wait for warmer weather or maybe you have done several outdoor sessions already, consider a studio session. You will be pleasantly surprised. Check out another example here.
