This guy was about to celebrate such a special day, and his mom wanted some special portraits to display at the party and celebration. Well, I was more than happy to oblige.
We had so much fun together creating these images, and this guy and his brother were a dream to work with. I have a personal theory that being at the beach on a warm evening will make just about anyone joyful and relaxed.
When my subjects are relaxed, it makes the portraits unstoppable. It also helps show a range of emotions, like being playful, chill, or thoughtful. We got all of them, and when you put them all together, the collection tells the story…the story of who this young man is.
It’s always my goal to tell an authentic story. One that explored who the person is in front of that camera, and who they are at the moment in time. This is especially true for young people celebrating a milestone like a Bar Mitzvah. There is so much life stretched out in front of him, and so many changes to come. Capturing who he is right now is meaningful, and will last for generations to come.
