Do you remember your 16th birthday? I don’t really remember details about mine, but I do remember that my mom always remembered our birthdays and made them special. To this day, those special memories live with me as I try to make sure my children have great birthdays, too. This adorable girl had the coolest Sweet Sixteen bash ever, with a gossip girl theme! Her group of girlfriends came in prep-school ready attire, and we partied! We did these photos in Central Park, and also in a swanky hotel on 59th street, which looked like it came right out of a Gossip Girl episode (and how fun is the Blair-inspired outfit and headband?)
They were all such sweethearts and a delight to photograph, and they really played up our fun theme for the camera! I tried to capture individual and group shots, to give the birthday girl a ton of memories for a photo book or scrapbook. After all, I know she will want to remember such a fun day! And the idea of putting them in a scrapbook or deciding to make your own personalised book to keep these memories in one place is becoming much more popular, as it will give everyone the chance to reminisce about this time. In the future, it also gives you the opportunity to show your children and grandchildren what you looked like when you turned the milestone age of 16 or any other monumental age. So, if you’re planning a milestone birthday (or just a regular birthday party!), consider using a professional photographer to document it…your memories will be more crisp and beautiful than just a few iPhone snapshots!
