The “golden light” is every photographer’s dream. It’s when the sun hits just right, creating warmth and natural light and illuminating the subjects. We did this session in Autumn, which was perfection. The sun was coming through the orange, yellow, and red of the trees, and it brought everything together. Add in one super cool family that came ready to have some fun, and it was photo magic. We created images that will for sure be put up on the walls for years to come.
What’s the secret to a great family session? There is no secret. After years of doing family, senior, teen, and children’s photography, I can tell you that the real “secret” is to show up with a great attitude. Attitude shows in every single photo, and if you are stressing out your children trying to get them to smile through gritted teeth, it unfortunately reflects in stiff photos. Remember that your family session in itself is a memory! Your children will remember the way you made them feel when you laughed with them, comforted them, and played with them…that’s always the goal of my sessions. I love shoots where my families feel comfortable and are truly enjoying each other’s company; shoots like this one!
