This dapper looking young man is about to party the night away at his upcoming bar mitzvah! It makes me so happy to be receiving clients at my studio with both guys and girls. Young men should have the same perfect portraits to remember this milestone in their lives. Josh is really excited for his party and so it his family. Of course, every mom will love these sessions, but these will also be the heirloom images that are passed down to his kids and his grandkids…that’s pretty special to imagine, especially for the lucky photographer (me)! I envision Josh showing them to his son, perhaps when he is preparing for a bar mitzvah of his own. Portraits like these are family history in the making. In years to come, family members can research for their family history on sites with genealogy records (go here for an example), but having portraits like these means they can put a face to the name. This makes it feel so much more real. Plus, seeing similarities in appearances is also nice for those researching their family history – knowing where you got your nose, or smile, or eyes from can be humourous but also helps to make you feel part of the family.
I love studio portraits, but I know some clients prefer outdoor or on-location photos for their bar or bat mitzvah. I offer both, depending on what the family is looking for. You can look at more galleries of studio portraits HERE. I’d love to chat with you about an upcoming session if a young man or young lady in your life is preparing for their big ceremony…and if you’re a grandparent or family friend, please know that a photo session makes a lovely gift that will last forever!
