Well, I have been in this game for over a decade now. One of the primary reasons that I still approach it with enthusiasm is because I continue to try to evolve and approach every portrait in a brand new way. I love pushing myself to try new techniques and ideas and bring a freshness to the session.
Lately, I have been really intrigued with trying to infuse deep emotion into portraits. We feel deeply for the people in our lives and I want that reflected in the images I create. I want mom to look at an photo of her and her baby of any age and think, yes-that is how it feels.
I took the opportunity of this mom-and-me session to try to capture the essence of mom and her preteen daughter’s relationship. These two are beach girls so we had to utilize the beach at sunset, of course. We lucked out and got some dramatic skies. It really adds to the drama of it all.
I love this session and can’t wait to do many more like it.
