It’s heading towards my favorite time of the year: when the sun peeks out, and the temperatures begin to climb just a little. It makes for some pretty special summer memories, and for some truly gorgeous light. Sweet sixteen birthdays are another thing I love (let’s be honest, anytime you get a ton of loved ones together, I enjoy taking photos!), but it is sure sweet to watch a young lady or young man cross that 16th birthday threshold. This family really upped the ante with a stunning celebration at Smithtown Landing. The venue is well-known as a wedding location, but it’s perfect for any large party as well. This family had a bit of an “ocean” theme going on, and beloved 16 year old had a light blue dress to match. I really loved the lace detailing and her pretty and elegant makeup and hairstyling. As you can see below, good looks certainly run in the family, but they are all as kind on the inside, as well.
As a photographer, I enjoy watching and documenting, but I can’t help but get caught up in the good vibes. Fun and laughter is contagious! In addition to her family and other loved ones, the birthday girl also had her best girlfriends there to celebrate with her, in the prettiest light grey/silvery dresses and matching white heels. Not only were they all incredibly polite and wonderful to work with, they were also smart, beautiful, and really enjoyed just being together. It was the perfect day for a tightly-knit family, and one I was honored to photograph.
